Bhowmick Piyali is a PhD scholar at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Guwahati Off Campus, India. She obtained MPhil degree in 2016 in Social Sciences from TISS Guwahati campus. She has done MA in Sociology in 2014 from Ambedkar University Delhi, New Delhi. Her areas of interest include- Labour Process, Manufacturing Industry, Sociology of everyday lives, Migration, Family and Kinship, Migration and Social networks. She has a Publication in: Chapter in an edited volume named- “Employment & Labour Market in North-East India”, where the title of the chapter is “Work, Control and Mobility in the Manufacturing Industry in Assam” in an edited volume published by Routledge (ISBN: 978-1-138-55037-7 (hbk) ISBN: 978-0-429-44702-0 (ebk) in 2018.

Bushra Ali Khan completed her MA in Migration and Diaspora Studies from SOAS, University of London in 2021. Originally from India, she is currently working as a Senior Sub-Editor at The Week magazine in London, UK. She’s also a Researcher at Human Development Research Initiative’s Migration and Security team. Her research interest lies in the figure and concept of the ‘subaltern’ drawing from the theories of power, hegemony, and subjugation by Ranajit Guha, Gayatri Spivak and Antonio Gramsci.
